First thing first, let me remind you (and myself) the 5 happiness rules:-

  1. Free your heart from hatred 消除心中的仇恨
  2. Free your mind from worries 消除脑中的忧虑
  3. Live simply 简单的生活
  4. Give more 付出多一些
  5. Expect less 期望少一些

I sincerely wish that all of us can find sustainable happiness in life.

Next, about this space. I’ve decided to host a space that serves as

  • a platform for me to connect with the world
  • one-stop information about me – what I did, what I’m doing, what I’d like to do, what I like/dislike, etc
  • a place for me to meet new opportunities and friends who share common interests
  • a chance for me to look back who I used to be and how I’ve changed as I grow

I started blogging 5 years ago since 2005 on Friendster. I then moved to WordPress in 2008 because I had stopped using Friendster (almost everyone shifted to Facebook nowadays). And now, I’m starting this on a free hosting because it allows more flexibility. Since I’m an IS student, I should have some hands-on practice in managing a website, right? :P Initially I was planning to just settle down with the free hosting and the domain name (gankahhwee.megabyet.net). However I decided that the domain name really doesn’t sound nice so I’ve bought this gankahhwee.com with about 10 bucks. Pfft. Alright alright, stop getting a little geeky here.

Looking at my blogging history, I’ve been posting less and less. One reason is apparently — laziness. Sometimes I have a lot of things in my mind that I’d like to share, but I just don’t have the ‘mood’ to start typing them out. Another reason, perhaps, is that many of us just tend to start wearing a mask and being afraid of showing the real self when we are exposed to more things out there. I saw so many great people out there. I started feeling humble –> inferior. I fear that people will look down on me if they know what I’m thinking. I’m worried that my words would sound so childish/ignorant/idiotic that others would laugh at me. I’m scared of being criticized by any chance.

Oh why can’t I just feel confident in myself and be indifferent of what others think like last time? No one is perfect. No one knows everything. It’s perfectly OK for me to not know something. It’s totally alright for me to have my own thinking. It’s absolutely fine for me to have my own dreams no matter how silly they might sound. Being open and transparent about who I really am is utterly important. Feedback from others, instead of fearing, I shall welcome it as an opportunity for me to reflect and grow. Yup.

Finally, I’m now proud to announce to you that…

And YOU too!
